Eisch Valley shakeout
Arrival shakeout straight from Mamer — north into the Eisch valley, rolling Guttland fields, quiet roads. Bike check, settle in.
Seven days based in Luxembourg, alternating hard and easy, on the same climbs the pros race: Tour de Luxembourg stages and the Liège–Bastogne–Liège Monument.
Daily rides roll out from Mamer station; for the Moselle days and the LBL Monument excursion, the group drives to a closer start to keep the kilometres on the river or the race roads. The camp runs on one simple rule: alternating hard and easy, never two hard days in a row.
Five of the seven rides overlap directly with stages of the Tour de Luxembourg or, on Saturday, the Liège–Bastogne–Liège Monument. Riders take the same roads as the pros.
Climbing per day — alternating hard / easy
Mamer is base camp; most rides roll out from the station. For the Moselle days and the LBL excursion the group drives to a closer start.
Arrival shakeout straight from Mamer — north into the Eisch valley, rolling Guttland fields, quiet roads. Bike check, settle in.
The queen day, ridden on fresh legs. Mont St-Nicolas — Luxembourg's hardest climb — then the cobbled 18% Niklosbierg ramp finishing in the Vianden castle courtyard. Train back to Mamer.
Recovery from Tuesday's queen day. Mamer → Kirchberg → south to coffee on the Moselle at Stadtbredimus → back via the Charly Gaul corridor. Home by mid-afternoon for the concert.
Andy Schleck's “early test” — Bourscheid (7.9%) and Eschdorf (8.3%, max 12%), past Bourscheid Castle and the medieval ruin at Esch-sur-Sûre. Van transfer to Ettelbruck.
Drive to Remich, ride the Luxembourg Moselle: Schengen tri-frontier monument, the TdL Stage 2 climbs (Wintrange + Remerschen), winery stop at Caves Bernard-Massard in Grevenmacher.
The Monument day. Drive 1h15 to Houffalize, ride seven LBL climbs — Saint-Roch, Stockeu (Eddy Merckx memorial), La Redoute (22%), Roche-aux-Faucons.
Scenic farewell across the border. Drive to Konz (Saar/Mosel confluence), ride through Trier (Roman Porta Nigra), past Schweich and Riol's river bend on to Mehring (Roman Villa Rustica). Turn back. Almost entirely flat.
History, nature, music, food, wine and business — six chapters of a Luxembourg week.
Tuesday's queen stage finishes in the courtyard of Vianden castle; Thursday descends past the medieval ruin at Esch-sur-Sûre; Beaufort and Bourscheid silhouettes punctuate the road. Half the week is ridden in their shadow.
Sandstone forest and waterfalls in the Mullerthal, the terraced Moselle wine valley, the high Ardennes plateau, the rolling Eisch around Mamer. The country in seven days — and you see it from the saddle.
The Offspring on Wed 1 Jul — built into the week, Day 3 ride finishes early. For those staying on, Lenny Kravitz plays the same venue on Wed 8 Jul. Free tram from the city centre.
The Offspring → Lenny Kravitz →Luxembourg punches well above its weight on dining — a deep bench of Michelin and Gault&Millau addresses, and a summer-terrace culture that turns the city into an outdoor room. Every evening of the camp ends at a hand-picked table.
A curated tasting on Friday and a farewell on the river Sunday. Working shortlist:
